Bill Shockley
Bill Shockley is a Senior Partner and Consultant with ISA.

Following a corporate career heading sales, marketing, and R&D for a division of a Fortune 500 company, and serving as CEO of an energy marketing company, Bill built a consulting practice to help companies innovate their sales and marketing programs.

In 2001, Bill turned his attention to the Front End of Innovation and founded ISA. Over the next several years he became a leading expert, working with over thirty major corporations. Not satisfied with the innovation results reported by many companies, he found that even those with strong innovation cultures and processes had omitted a key ingredient for success. Bill has also consulted for several innovation software companies, such as Brightidea, Inc., Imaginatik LLC, Quality Sciences, Inc., OVO Innovation, and Idea Champions, Inc.

Today, much of his attention is directed to promoting better ideas to keep innovation pipelines filled with good projects. “There are plenty of ideas, just not enough good ones,” he says, “The logical and creative sides of the brain need to work together, but in most innovation processes, including employee involvement and voice of the customer, they do not. The tools exist; they just need to be implemented and used.”

Bill is the author of over a dozen innovation white papers and collaborated on a recent idea management book.

He is from Indiana and attended Purdue University for two years studying electrical engineering before switching to Indiana State University, earning B.S. and M.S. degrees in economics and public administration, with high honors and a fellowship.

Bill resides in New Jersey, where he is active in his community and in ham radio, holding the top-level Extra-class license as NJ2H. A life-long entrepreneur, he started a neighborhood newspaper when he was eleven, selling ads door-to-door, and a printing company when he was 25. Later he started an advertising agency, telecommunications company, and energy company.
